Sabi is committed to Environmentally Sustainable Design— in other words designing responsibly. Designing for climate and seasonally naturally leads to passive thermal heating and cooling to minimise the use of mechanical systems.
We should always have an appreciation of Place, Climate and Local setting to achieve a sustainable design that will work with the environment and not against it……
Each design will consider breeze paths, sun paths, climatic location, soil types, terrain, local weather patterns, and material use.
Materials in a project are selected by reference to characteristics of their: recyclability, embodied energy, environmental impacts in production, transportation, waste/ off-cuts-usability, strength/ weight ratio, durability, low impact, and maintainability. By considering these elements, we are looking at the whole life cycle of a project to determine the long term running costs for the client and the environment.
